TENCEL®

Botanic Shirting

It’s hard to imagine the world of fashion without shirts. The shirt or blouse has become one of the most versatile articles of clothing. Whether for casual or formal wear, fashion or comfort, many shirts are made of natural materials since they are worn next to the skin. An ideal application for the TENCEL® fiber.

Skin friendly and easy to iron

A shirt is worn for many hours every day and must therefore be skin-friendly and able to withstand the strains of everyday life. Care properties play an important role in this connection. Good washability and ease of care are the basic prerequisites for materials used in the shirt segment.

Natural easy-care

TENCEL® is perfect for shirts and not just due to the botanic origin. The fiber has excellent skin-sensory properties and ensures moisture management and temperature control for the best wear comfort. With the easy-care properties of TENCEL® classic cotton fabrics for shirts are further upgraded.

Fewer creases

TENCEL® scores in shirts due to the lower formation of creases when washing. Since the fiber swells in the wet state, the formation of creases is already greatly reduced during the washing procedure. Tests show that with TENCEL® fewer creases form and these disappear more quickly when hung than in a reference shirt. Creases open up more quickly in wet state with TENCEL® than with cotton.

The crease recovery value is an interesting measurement for the quality of shirt fabrics. A test* with TENCEL® shirts shows that in comparison with standard shirts the crease angle of TENCEL® fabrics recovers more quickly. The target value of the tests equals 180° which corresponds to a completely crease-free flat fabric. In a TENCEL® shirt fabric the wet crease angle already equals 140° after as little as 30 seconds in comparison to only 100° in a reference fabric. Thus ironing becomes child’s play.
