A new dimension of “chill-out” has entered living rooms. TENCEL® is now being used in upholstery fabrics. Thanks to this botanic fiber, sofas and couches become cozy, bright, and silky - all at the same time. The new elegance of TENCEL® fabrics makes couches a personal chill-out lounge for the whole family.
The TENCEL® fiber supports the homing trend. Homing stands for cozy interior design. Fabrics with TENCEL® submerge a living room into a display of color and turn a couch into an oasis of well-being. This is guranteed through the fiber’s color brilliance and skin-friendliness properties. Nothing, now, stands in the way of cozy, cuddly relaxation.
With TENCEL®, a botanic fiber is, now, making its mark on furniture fabrics, as an alternative to conventional materials. The fiber is made from wood which is a product of photosynthesis. Since the beginning of time, photosynthesis has been basis for life on earth. During photosynthesis, energy from the sun is absorbed by the green chlorophyll, and converted into chemical energy. Dextrose and oxygen are generated from carbon dioxide and water. And wood, the raw material for TENCEL®, is created.
Botanic sense of living
There is nothing quite like home. Particularly, if the climate in the room is inviting and allows you to relax and breathe easily. TENCEL® upholster y fabrics are the next component in the botanic home concept. Following bedding and carpets, TENCEL® is now taking couches by storm.
TENCEL® couches are desirable, not just because they are cozy. They are also aesthetically pleasing. Intense colors and a velvety sheen dominate designs of upholstery fabrics of TENCEL®. The exceptional smoothness and silkiness of the TENCEL® fiber are shown off to particular advantage. Colors of extraordinary intensity can be attained, as a result of the fiber’s excellent dye uptake.
When surfaces of materials rub against each other, electrostatic charging occurs. To what extent textiles become charged, depends on the moisture level in the fiber. Moisture content acts as a deterrent and prevents charging. The moisture content in TENCEL® is approximately 13%. Polyester, on the other hand, has a moisture content of only 1%. So, full relaxation is guaranteed on a TENCEL® couch.
As an upholstery fabric, TENCEL® has a host of advantages over conventional materials. Due to the good dimensional stability of the fiber, care properties are outstanding. Removable covers can be laundered at home, making them hygienically clean. Another asset is the abrasion resistance of TENCEL® upholstery fabrics. The cozy couch retains its beauty and bright colors.
TENCEL® can be readily mixed with all other fibers. Combinations can be used to emphasize the different properties of the fibers. Wool, cotton, polyester and polyamide are optimum blending partners for TENCEL®. For production, conventional manufacturing processes can be used.
